The first national park of North America was established in 1872 and became a 19th century tourist fave because of the railway which first brought visitors in 1883 to this area that stretches across Wyoming, Montana and Idaho. In 1915 cars were first allowed and the park has welcome a steady stream of hikers, cyclists and drivers in the past 100 years, especially to see Old Faithful, a cone geyser that erupts regularly, every half hour to two hours, with its artful display of hot water.
