Ok, there certainly was a lot of craziness going on at this year’s VMAs: Miley Cyrus’ overly revealing outfits; Justin Bieber tearing up after his performance; Kanye’s rambling speech, and declaring his 2020 presidential bid (oh no!). I guess it wouldn’t be the VMAs without a few jaw-dropping moments, right?

One gal who definitely stood out on the night was Maybelline New York spokeswoman, Gigi Hadid. Wearing a head-turning yellow Emilia Wickstead dress (with matching hot pants), and sporting a sun-kissed beauty look, she looked incredible!

Gigi Hadid's Beauty Look From the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards Celebrity makeup artist, Patrick Ta worked with the model to get her red carpet ravishing using a selection of products from Maybelline New York — no surprise there!

“Gigi loves fresh, bronzy skin and it looks so good on her!” said Ta. “The inspiration for her VMA look came from her modern, structured and beautiful mustard yellow dress. So of course, I had to make her look like she just came off a beach, but still glam!”

The Beauty Breakdown

2015 MTV Video Music Awards - Arrivals
Ta applied Face Studio Master Prime In Blur + Illuminate to create a beautiful glow, followed by Superstay Better Skin Foundation to ensure a clean and bright complexion, without appearing too heavy. Next, Ta lightly contoured Hadid to accentuate her cheekbone using Maybelline New York Fit Me Bronzer in the hallows of her cheeks and then lightly powdered her T-zone using Maybelline New York Mineral Power Finishing Veil Translucent Loose Powder. Next, he mixed Maybelline New York Fit Me Blush in “Medium Mauve” and Face Studio Master Hi-Light in “Coral” and applied to the apples of her cheeks. He finished by misting her face with a setting spray to give the skin a natural, luminous finish.

Ta applied a tan, shimmery gold over Hadid’s entire lid from the Maybelline New York The Blushed Nudes Palette. Next, he added a dark shimmery brown from the same palette to her outer crease and bottom lash line for drama and definition. Finally, he curled her lashes and coated twice with Volum’ Express the Colossal Chaotic Lash Waterproof. Last, he added individual lashes to create a twinkly lash effect!

To create a thicker brow, Ta applied Eye Studio Brow Precise in “Blonde”, followed by Eye Studio Brow Drama in “Blonde” to comb the hairs up and in the same direction.

To complete the look, Ta applied Color Sensational Creamy Mattes in “Nude Embrace” – a bronze, nude lipstick. He finished with Baby Lips Moisturizing Lip Gloss in “Taupe with Me”.
