Last night, stylish film stars, musicians and fashion mavens flocked to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York for the prestigious fashion event, the Costume Institute Benefit Gala. Attendees paid tribute to the Costume Institute’s next exhibit, China: Through the Looking Glass, with their red carpet looks.
Stunning Maybelline New York spokesmodel, Gigi Hadid turned heads in her sassy red Diane von Furstenberg dress with thigh-high slit.
Celebrity makeup artist, Patrick Ta worked with the model to get her red carpet ravishing using products from Maybelline New York — no surprise there!
“The inspiration for Gigi’s inaugural MET Ball came from a recent runway show in Paris. Gigi loves a natural look so applying to much makeup on her face is a crime! We kept her youthful and fresh, but still sexy by playing up the eyes,” shared Patrick Ta.
The Beauty Breakdown
Starting with a clean face, Ta applied a thick moisturizer to create a luminous and smooth foundation. Next, he applied Maybelline New York Master Prime in Blur + Illuminate, followed by Maybelline New York Dream Pure BB to ensure Gigi’s complexion looked “clean and bright.”
Ta lightly contoured the hollows of Hadid’s cheeks accentuating the cheekbones using Maybelline New York Fit Me Bronzer. Next, he applied Maybelline New York Fit Me Blush in Medium Pink and Deep Coral to the apples for a healthy flush. Ta finished the complexion with Maybelline New York Mineral Power Finishing Veil Translucent Loose Powder to ensure staying power throughout the entire evening.
Hadid wanted the eyes to look bright and clean, yet sultry. To create the look, Ta applied a champagne shade in the crease and a neutral shade on the lid from Maybelline New York The Blushed Nudes Palette (launching June 2015).
Next, using an angled brush he applied Maybelline New York Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner in Blackest Black, drawing a thin winged line starting half way on the eyelid. Ta then curled Hadid’s lashes and applied two coats of Maybelline New York Great Lash Lots Of Lashes Washable in Very Black. Finally he added tons of individual lashes in short and medium to create twinkly eyes.
To amplify Hadid’s brows, Ta used Maybelline New York Eye Studio Master Shape Brow Pencil in Blonde.
Ta applied Maybelline New York Color Sensational Lipcolor in Born With It — a flesh tone shade — to complement Hadid’s more vibrant blush color.
To complete the look, nail artist Mar y Soul applied Maybelline New York’s Color Show in the true red shade of Paint The Town, topped with a matte top coat.
