Why We Love Vancouver’s Dog-Friendly OPUS Hotel

Oscar and Grissom love to travel, and have been doing so since they were wee fuzz balls. In addition to joining their parents on many weekend getaways, these adventurous pups have driven across Canada, not once, but twice! Pretty impressive, right?

Like their mother, they appreciate the finer things in life (good food, a comfy bed, and lots of love). And they adore resting their weary paws at a luxurious boutique hotel. (Ok, who are we kidding; it’s their mum that loves a fancy-schmancy hotel!) But if mamma ain’t happy, nobody’s happy.

Recently, Oscar and Grissom were invited to stay a night at Vancouver’s hip ‘n’ happening OPUS Hotel. Before you could say “cheese” (they’re fave snackie), the pugs had grabbed a toy each and were hopping with glee at the front door, ready to hop in the car for the short drive downtown.

This award-winning hotel is smack dab in the middle of oh-so-cool Yaletown — a great place to stroll down the boutique and restaurant lined streets, visit one of the several local green spaces, or saunter along the Seawall, with your four-legged friend. Oscar and Grissom really enjoy visiting Yaletown because it’s packed with pooches — so many fluffies to meet, greet, and sniff.

The OPUS Hotel first opened its doors in 2002 and has been wowing human and canine visitors ever since with its first-class customer service and excellent amenities. In 2013, the 96-room boutique hotel received a makeover and unveiled refreshed rooms with updated stylings, with the help of published interior designer, Robert Bailey — the rooms are gorgeous!

Oscar and Grissom appreciate that they are as important as the hotel’s human guests. At the OPUS, there is never a charge to bring your dog! How many hotels can you name that don’t charge you for bringing your fur baby? OPUS loves their four-footed friends by waiving any pet fees and offering a complimentary copy of Modern Dog Magazine, a comfy bed, and homemade treats from local business, Barking Babies.

Once checked in at the hotel, the boys got settled into their incredible OPUS Signature Suite with floor-to-ceiling windows, sweeping views, two-sided fireplace (a fave of Oscar’s), and heated floors in the bathroom. While the puglets slept on their pup bed, Mum and Dad cozied up in the divine chrome four-poster king-sized bed, after munching on gourmet burgers in front of the huge TV.

After a fantastic night of blissful sleep, Oscar and Grissom enjoyed a morning walk along the Seawall with Dad, while Mum played on the complimentary iPad and made a delicious coffee using the Nespresso machine. Then is was sadly time to go to work.

The OPUS Hotel is the perfect place to stay for a staycation, business trip, or a longer holiday, and Oscar and Grissom each give it two paws up!
