So you’ve found your bridal makeup artist and you are almost set to go. Now it’s time to pull your look together for the day with the perfect hair and makeup. When it comes to bridal makeup Stephanie Daga, makeup artist and owner of Blush Pretty, knows her stuff. Daga forecasts the hottest makeup looks for the upcoming wedding season.

“Makeup for one’s wedding day is often influenced by the hair,” says Daga. The most changes in bridal beauty have been with hairstyle trends, as “modern day brides always want makeup to look classic, so they don’t look dated in their photos.” She often finds that she can be more experimental with the bridesmaids.

But that’s another topic, there’s more on bridesmaid’s wedding hairstyles coming later.

Purple Smoke-show

“Every bride wants the eye to be the focus, from a dramatic smokey eye to a softer highlighted eye,” says Daga. The specific choice is based on the bride’s personality. When brides request a smokey eye “they almost immediately say, but ‘you know not heavy black.’” Soft champagne and a brown, or a purple smokey eye is most popular. A soft pink lip, “something that makes the skin look really healthy” pairs well with a bolder eye.

Try: Guerlain Écrin 4 Couleur Long-Lasting Eyeshadows in Les Roses, $64, Lise Watier Haute Coleur Lip Lacquer in Top Model, $22

Go Vintage

Go Vintage

For brides who don’t want to emphasize the eyes, the makeup trend of going vintage or the old Hollywood glam look is big. “It’s not uncommon for brides to request a neutral shaded eye, with liner as the focus and a deeper lip,” says Daga. When going vintage, give your look a modern twist to keep it fresh and not outdated.

Get lippy with shades of classic red and wines depending on your skin tone, bridal theme, and season of the wedding.

Try: GOSH Volume Lip Shine in Red Stiletto, $15; Joe Fresh Cream Lipstick in Tulip, $6

Get Lash Crazy

Get Lash Crazy

Although there are some brides who say “I don’t want lashes”, Daga’s never met a bride who’s hesitant about fake lashes and then regretted having them after the wedding: “Once you have that trial with the lashes on, she is a transformed woman.”

More recently, there’s been a trend for brides to get lash extensions as this allows brides to have fuller lashes for all their pre-wedding events and into the honeymoon.

Try: Bourjois Volume Glamour Max Mascara in #51 Noir Max, $20; Ardell Double Up Lashes, $7.99; Pure Anti-Ageing Lash from Laboratoire Dr. Renaud, $69.95

Seasonal Hues

Keep the season of yo,ur wedding in mind when it comes to makeup trends. In the summer it’s that “bronzy, beach babe kind of glow,” says Daga, created with a rose gold highlighter for a dewy finish and then bronzer over top. In the winter the smokey eye in deeper shades tends to surface: “So for a purple smokey eye we‘d add a touch of a darker silver for that icy feeling that associates itself with winter.”

Try: Maybelline 24H Colour Tattoo in Audacious Asphalt, $8.99; Diorskin Nude Tan Healthy Glow Enhancing Powder in Sunlight, $56
