Or at the very least, whip him into shape with some of these latest new goodies from the men’s aisles.
ESPA Shave Mud
It’s like a white mud bath for your face! White China clay is the secret ingredient behind the ESPA luxury line’s refreshing shave cream/mud. A three-in-one at heart (cleanser, purifying mask, shaving cream), this luxe and earthy elixir leaves skin prepped and ready to shave, leaving a cool, refreshed face after the rinse-down. A step ahead of other shave preps, the mud draws oil and impurities out of the skin as it softens. This formula also claims to contain an eulsifying ingredient that slows hair growth. You can let him decide.
Available at international luxury spas in 55 countries and at espaonline.com, $35 (200 ml).
LUSH Grass Shower Gel
Manly, yes! This new soothing gel targets irritated or sunburned skin, not just dirt, and is packed with enzymes, proteins, minerals and anti-oxidents. Plus, there’s nobody that does “what is that great smell?” like LUSH, and this little treat doesn’t exactly smell like grass, thanks in part to the sandalwood and neroli oils and a little bit of bergamot to make things interesting.
Available at LUSH stores and lush.com,
$19 (250 g).
LANCÔME MEN Génefic HD Youth Activating Concentrate
This amazing serum is light and refreshing, and I’ve been using it as a one-gel-does-all, both after shaving and as a day protector. It feels great after a day at the beach, going on easy and staying put. The formula stimulates the production of epidermal repair proteins that give your skin a fighting chance not only from the elements but from aging. Tiger herb extract and the Génifique complex revive and tone. Quite amazing and smells great, a mix of wood and citrus.
Available at select Lancôme counters and lancome.ca, $60 (50 ml).
Head & Shoulders Hair Endurance for Men Shampoo & 2-in-1
As if endurance in EVERYTHING else wasn’t enough these days, a man now has to worry about his hair not only falling out, but falling flat! Limp hair! Argh! “Guaranteed” thicker-looking hair in one week is the promise, and as with all the H&S formulations, the focal point is not the hair but the scalp. Zinc is the main powerhouse ingredient like it’s always been, reducing flakes so the hair roots aren’t bogged down. This collection is the 11th in the H&S series, so it’s no wonder they’re doubling the size of my local Shoppers Drug Mart. We need more shelves!
Available at drugstores and mass-market retailers, $6 (420 ml).
