Through innovative training programs and tools, Sara Whittaker, National Director of Education, inspires, develops and guides the national team of Clinique skincare and makeup experts to deliver the highest level of beauty knowledge and service to women across Canada.
With over 25 years experience in the cosmetic industry, Sara represents Clinique at all major North American dermatology conventions where she collaborates and shares information with physicians from around the world. She is frequently quoted in Canada’s top media, and is a regular guest on television’s CityLine program.
“It’s important for me to believe that the service and expertise we provide actually have an impact on skin appearance as well as the psyche,” Sara says. “Clinique isn’t hope in a jar, but products that deliver visible differences to the skin.”
Today’s question is one we’ve all probably wondered at some point…
Q: I tried popping a pimple and applied too much pressure and I took off a piece of my skin! I was wondering if that was going to turn into a scar or a dark spot, even if I didn’t touch it?
A: Obviously you know that you shouldn’t “pick” a pimple (however tempting) not just because of what happened this time, but more importantly, the pressure used when you try to pop a blemish can actually spread bacteria, and this can lead to even more pimples.
If you want to prevent scarring, you should use a liquid exfoliant like Clinique Clarifying Lotion to help keep the area clean and bacteria free while promoting cell renewal, and Clinique Acne Solutions Post Blemish Formula which helps prevent hyper pigmentation, or the dark spots that can remain after your pimple is gone.
