Summer Must-Haves

We asked our favourite beauty bloggers to dish on which beauty products they can’t live without this summer. Here are their picks:

MD Skincare has a new product called EZ4U 2 Go, and I am loving them! They’re perfect to throw in your bag when you’re on the go – no water needed! I’ve been in really humid weather all summer and these make me feel instantly refreshed with little effort.

Cursed as I am with super oily skin, I don’t go anywhere in the summer without Clean and Clear Oil-Absorbing Sheets. They sop up all my grease and keep my skin looking fresh, plus they’re just a few dollars. Love them!

I just love Too Faced‘s Tanning Bed in a Tube. The perfect shimmering instant bronzer plus self-tanner that gives the most beautiful gold shimmer. A great way to diva up your tan and look glam for those summer dates. I’d wear it all year round if I could.

Even though the sun has been M.I.A. for most of the summer, you can never do without sunscreen (even on a cloudy day), so my must-have summer product pick is Dermalogica Multivitamin Bodyblock SPF 20. I love it because it protects against skin-damaging UVA and UVB rays while it treats and moisturizes skin. Beneficial skincare ingredients like Shea butter and hyaluronic acid are uber-hydrating, so skin is soft, but doesn’t feel greasy. And panthenol helps repair existing skin damage. You couldn’t ask for more from your SPF.

SPF has been the biggest addition to my own bag. I’ve carried SPF in my bag before, but never as diligently until I did a piece on décolleté care for Best Health Magazine. Now I actually double-check my bag to make sure I have SPF with me for when I go back outdoors after a two-hour event or meeting (you know, things start at 10 and then you’re out in the noon sun to test the SPF you applied at 7:30 am). I’ve been using Cliniderm Gentle Protective Lotion SPF 45 because it’s a natural formula with an amazing, non-sticky texture, and when I have less space in my bag, Dermalogica Solar Defense Booster SPF 30 because it’s such a wee squeezie bottle.

My summer makeup staple has to be Nars Lacquer in Hot Wired. It’s bright, highly pigmented and the frosted jar makes it feel so lux. I’m also coveting Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15 in light, because it imparts a sheer wash of colour and moisturizes perfectly – sans shine.

My summer essential is David Babaii for WildAid Bohemian Beach Spray, which suits me because I’m (a) lazy about doing my hair and (b) obsessed with using products that are as natural and chemical-free as possible. This spray enables me to air dry my hair and somehow achieve Kate Hudson-esque texture. It’s also free of sulfates, parabens, petrochemicals and animal products. The cherry on top: it has a deliciously tropical, coconut scent.

I have so many must-have summer makeup products, but one that I use every singe day is Bobbi Brown‘s Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner. Even in the summer, I do not shy away from eyeliner, and needing one that lasts all day, throughout the heat and humidity is a must. Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner applies so evenly and easily with her eyeliner brush (I love the short handled one). Just be sure to pick up just a teeny tiny bit on the brush, swipe it over your hand or a tissue to remove any excess, and apply. It lasts and looks beautiful all day. I most often wear the Gel Eyeliner in Black, but I am recently in love with Caviar Ink (from her Nude Collection), a softer black with a bit of a brown/gray hue to it.

I love Herban Essentials essential oil towelettes. It’s so hot and these are perfect for freshening up and wiping sweat. I carry these around all the time because it’s so hot and humid in DC. I wipe down my arms and legs and feel refreshed even though it’s baking outside.
