Go west, and spa

Devil’s Thumb RanchLocated two hours west of Denver, Colorado, the Devil’s Thumb Ranch is casually elegant with its reclaimed wood beam construction and rustic décor. This environmentally friendly outpost now boasts the 12,000 square foot Ranch Creek Spa, which opened this past February.

The two storey building is located a short walk from the main lodge, and was constructed with reclaimed wood. The reception, retail area, men’s and women’s change rooms are on the main floor, sparingly decorated with western and Navajo textiles and antique pieces. The second floor houses a spacious yoga studio, offering classes every weekend, and eight treatment rooms, flooded with natural light and views of the 5,000 acres of Devil’s Thumb Ranch.

Massages, soaks, wraps, facials, and hand and foot treatments are preformed using all natural, raw botanical oils and herbs. Therapists are well versed in suggesting treatments to counter the effects of the dry environment and high altitude. Consider the Rocky Mountain Rain Therapy, which uses nine essential oils massaged along the spine to boost the immune system and puts focus on structural alignment. After indulging in a few treatments, hydrate with the fruit-infused water or an herbal tea. As an added bonus, head to the change room’s sauna, steam room or relaxing aromatherapy lounge to extend the feeling of Zen.

Devil’s Thumb Ranch features 52 rooms in the main lodge, 16 cabins along the ridge, two restaurants, library, mini movie theatre, swimming pool and hot tub, as well as extensive trails for horseback riding, hiking and cross-country skiing. A perfect getaway for big city luxury paired with a healthy dose of western hospitality.

Slice of Heaven

King Arthur FlourWe love pie, we just don’t enjoy all the time it takes to make one. If you love to bake, you know most recipes don’t make enough for just one or two. You bake one day and then you eat for 10 and that’s just not good for your waistline, or your neighbours, who get the run off of your delicacies. But we’ve just come across the coolest bake ware since, well, ever—the individual pie slice pan.

This nifty bake ware allows you to make just a single piece of peach cobbler, apple crisp, chicken potpie, or whatever your little heart craves. They come in sets of two, so splurge for three sets and you’ve got enough to make a whole pie when you have guests and avoid the messiness of cutting. They’re individual so you will also be keeping portions under control (each one holds only two-thirds of a cup).

Gin Sling sheath dressKeeping warm and being stylish don’t always go hand in hand. But, it doesn’t have to be that way! We have found the perfect dress to take you from the tail end of summer right into the dark, dreary days of winter.

The Gin Sling sheath dress from Nanette Lepore will light up the cold days to come with its multicolour floral print. The sweetheart neckline and thick straps flatter all figures.

Wear it now with a pair of patent heels and a wrap style jacket; then wear it all winter with opaque tights and peep toe booties.

Having this option in your closet will prevent you from reaching for jeans and a t-shirt every day of the week.

Blackberry BoldIt’s official. We’re in love and this time it’s serious. Sexy, stylish and oh-so-smart, it’s everything we’ve every asked for. The new Blackberry Bold smartphone has everything we need plus some things we didn’t even know we wanted. If we were the jealous type, we’d be a little concerned with all the attention it has been getting. It’s brilliant eye-catching display attracts the eye of anyone who walks by and delivers clarity and colour that exceeds our expectations. It has everything we’ve already come to expect with past loves, but the Bold takes it to the next level. You’ll never miss a call again, even if you’re sending email or browsing the net. It navigates sites, zooms in on content and sets bookmarks from just about anywhere. It’s faster and powerful too. Mobile streaming, media sync, faster downloads and full-screen pages enhance the overall package.
